Update from Kate Champion ~ 14 October 2010
The first two weeks have gone well… although I’m always wary of saying something like that at such an early stage!
These first two weeks we called a ‘workshop’ as it was the first time working with two performers who hadn’t been in our initial creative development.
This week Oct 11th - without the performers - I’m working on gathering sample projection footage as well as starting work on transitions between the scenes that we already know we will be putting into the show. Lots of emails to Geoff and Roz and a Skype date to look at some of Geoff’s set, lighting and projection possibilities this Thursday evening.
The stories still fascinate us and are presenting us with a rich source for performance material. We’re constantly asking ourselves how we can theatricalise the situations in a way that doesn’t seek to emulate a documentary style……something we’re still tackling on a daily basis.
The cast are wonderful - a great mixture of skills and personalities with maturity and devising experience in abundance.
It’s such a different piece to The Age I’m In which is exciting for those of us who have worked on both shows.
Until next time!
